Dormont Hoses: The Blue and The Gray

By Lee Davis, CFSP

Dormont’s iconic Blue Gas Hoses have long set the standard for safety and convenience in the foodservice industry and beyond. But did you know that Dormont also makes Gray Gas Hoses?

Dormont’s Ultra Flow Series 41, 51, and 61 Gray Gas Hoses are designed for high BTU applications such as rooftop units and tankless water heaters. Their antimicrobial and UV stabilized Gray PVC coating is hot dipped and provides unmatched protection against abuse and weather in both indoor and outdoor applications. Rated for temperatures as low as -40°F and up to 150°F, these durable stainless steel gas connectors are ANSI/CSA approved.

Ultra Flow Gray Gas Hoses are 100% leak tested and feature an exclusive “No-Neck” design that increases flexibility. With more corrugations per inch to increase flexibility and extend service life, they are intended for stationary gas appliances and equipment. They are perfect for the normal operation of clothes dryers, rooftop HVAC units or similar outdoor appliances. They eliminate the need for pipe nipples, 90’s, and elbows, and require no field threading, cutting or assembly of CSST fittings and tubing.

The search for “greener” energy solutions is on the rise amongst foodservice operators. Tankless water heaters do not store reserves of hot water, and only heat water on an as-needed basis. This purportedly reduces energy use. Additionally, operators and designers increasingly seek opportunities to move HVAC and refrigeration units outdoors and/or onto the roof. This maximizes indoor space, and removes compressor noise and excess heat exhaust from the kitchen. For users of LP or NAT gas, this means an increased need for High BTU gas connectors.

Dormont Ultra Flow Gray Gas Hoses come in a variety of standard diameters and lengths to suit your needs. So for standard foodservice gas connections look for The Blue. For high BTU and outdoor applications, go for The Gray. Learn more about all of Dormont’s products at www.dormont.com.
