Spouses Activity
Monday, April 27, 2009 — 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
All spouses and guests are invited to a very special activity.

“Bluffton, It’s a state of mind”: Situated on the High Bluff overlooking the beautiful May River, is Bluffton. In the early 1800's, it was the summering place where the families of the rice and cotton planters of the surrounding Low Country would meet and could escape the heat of the near sea-level plantations. It was a merry place where everyone swam, boated, fished, crabbed, shrimped and, in the cooler weather, enjoyed the oysters, clams and scallops as the Indians long before them had done, and as the present day residents still do.

Take a tour with us and visit Bluffton’s historic sites such as the Cole Heyward House, built as a summerhouse in 1840 by John James Cole, builder and rice planter. And the oldest church in Bluffton, The Church of the Cross. Stroll Calhoun Street and enjoy quiet streets and friendly smiles.

Following the tour, you will enjoy lunch at a specially selected spot you will be sure to enjoy.
